#LightUpMBC Featured in Fall Issue of Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine

The Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington D.C. is illuminated for #LightUpMBC.
Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the young age of 32, caregiver and nurse Jessica Moore expressed a wish: to light a landmark in her hometown near Portsmouth, New Hampshire to raise awareness of the disease’s toll.
That first illumination of the Memorial Bridge in Portsmouth, lit five months after Jessica’s passing, was a spark that would grow into a global movement. Every year, on October 13th—Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day—landmarks in hundreds of cities around the globe now take part in #LightUpMBC, the world’s largest visual awareness campaign for MBC.
At the same time, a global livestream event, #LightUpMBC Live, gathers patients, researchers, celebrities and more to amplify voices from the MBC community. Tune in on Monday, October 13th at 8:00 PM ET on the METAvivor YouTube and Facebook Live channels. The event, produced by MBC Alliance individual member Tami Eagle Bowling, has raised more than $2 million for MBC research through METAvivor, the country’s only nonprofit that exclusively funds metastatic breast cancer research. Visit www.lightupmbc.org to see the full list of participating landmarks.
Both METAvivor and The Pink Fund, publisher of the Breast Cancer Wellness Magazine, are nonprofit members of the MBC Alliance.
