LAURA BOWERS
Laura Bowers, PhD, is a board member with the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation and has been living with metastatic breast cancer since 2018. She was an Assistant Professor with Purdue University’s Department of Nutrition Science until 2021, when she retired early due to the spread of metastases to her brain. She now seeks to make an impact on the lives of current and future breast cancer patients through research advocacy.
WHAT I'M WORKING ON
Alamo Advocate Program
Every December since 1997, the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) has run a patient advocate eduction program in parallel withthe San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS). The purpose of the program is to facilitate better understanding of the SABCS proceedings by the breast cancer patient advocates attending the conference.
