I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at 38 years old and was given 6 to 18 months to live. Yet here I am, 28 years later, thanks to a Herceptin study I joined back in August 1998. We are not statistics. There is always hope.

Over the years, I’ve learned how to navigate the chaos of the healthcare system — to ask questions, push back, and get second opinions. Trust your gut; it’s usually right. And remember: you are not alone. We’re in this together.

I’ve put myself out there as what I call an “unofficial advocate.” I’m an open book, always willing to help anyone who needs support. Staying active in the breast cancer community has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Through it, I’ve met some of the most incredible doctors, researchers, and fellow patients.

I believe in living life to the fullest and making memories with the people I love. My motto is simple: Keep Counting UP.
