Gralow\, M.D.\nScientific research has identified an increasing number of alterations at the gene and protein level in breast cancers that can serve as a target for therapy. Several new drugs have been recently approved that are directed to these targets\, with many other agents under study. It is increasingly clear that a better understanding of a patient’s and a cancer’s unique genetics and genomics can offer new possibilities for individualized treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
